Lots of Celtic Castles have been converted into hotels, restaurants & spas. Others have tours to teach you about their history. And some are rich tales & myths.

At first thought you may not think visiting castles would be very romantic. Change that line of thought because Irish castles became a trend for celebrity romance after the Beckhams married here in 1999 in Luttrellstown Castle Co. Dublin. Since then, the castles are rightfully host to big names including:
Kim Kardashian & Kanye West
Ballyfin House, Co. Laois
Pierce Brosnan & Keely Shaye Smith
Ashford Castle, Co. Mayo
Paul McCartney & Heather Mills
Castle Leslie, Co. Monaghan
Courteney Cox & Johnny McDaid
Ash ford Castle, Co. Mayo
Jay-Z & Beyonce loved their vacation in Ireland
Castlemartyr Resort, Co. Cork
Celebrities chose Irish castles because they understood how romantic castles can be. Visiting enchanting, towering castles with history seeping through the ivy flowing up the walls and remarkable surroundings are ideal for honeymooners.
The gardens and architecture are beautiful, there is lots to learn from visiting & many of them offer luxurious accommodation and premium food.
Many of the momentous castles were built in the Celtic and Medieval period by kings and vikings as a form of protection and most of them are still standing strong and they were build around beautiful surroundings.
The medieval Bunratty Castle, Co. Clare was filmed in ‘Game of Thrones’ and you can see its towering walls with jagged edges being lit up by flaming lights during the evening. Ireland features throughout the TV series because of its unique landscape – there is nowhere else like it.
There are around 53 castles scattered around Ireland, some are small and cosy, others are large and breathtaking. Many of them are still standing strong and others are monumental ruins, others have been restored. My list of the top 7 castles can be found in Chapter 6.
